From shopping to singing to taking in live theater, there is something for everyone this holiday season in the Bangor area. Fill your December with the sights and sounds of the season that will warm you into the new year.
1. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer: The Musical
On December 13th, the beloved TV classic comes to life in Bangor with all of your favorite characters including Santa, Mrs. Claus, Hermey the Elf, Bumble the Abominable Snow Monster, and of course, Rudolph, (plus more)! This family-friendly adventure helps teach us that what makes you different can be what makes you exceptional. Don’t miss this LIVE holiday tradition that encompasses the true meaning of Christmas.
2. Holiday Music at the Bangor Public Library
All month long, the Bangor Public Library is offering live Holiday music including a night that features Songs of Hanukkah. The admission is FREE and is sure to be a festive time.
3. Holiday Sale at Sister City Marketplace
On December 10th, find handmade gifts to delight the babies, kids, moms, dads, aunties and grandmas in your life at the Sister City Marketplace. All items are made with dignity in Bangor’s Sister City, Carasque, El Salvador. Sweatshop free & all profits go to the sewing co-op in Carasque.
4. It’s A Wonderful Life – Live Theatre
This interactive adaptation of Frank Capra’s cinematic classic enfolds the audience in the life and times of George Bailey, a good man who changed the world—not in the way he expected, but in ways that mattered. Surely “no man is a failure who has friends” and no Christmas is complete without a trip to Bedford Falls. Go back to the 1940s! Hear the bells and open your heart to the magic of the season. Experience a music-filled, holiday tradition in unforgettable fashion at the Penobscot Theatre Company.
5. The Nutcracker
A holiday tradition for all ages, the BSO’s annual production of The Nutcracker with the Robinson Ballet is beloved by audiences throughout Maine. Join us for a magical afternoon as Clara, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and the Nutcracker grace the stage of the Collins Center for the Arts as the Bangor Symphony Orchestra brings Tchaikovsky’s score to life! Arrive early to shop at the BSO’s Nutcracker Store, offering a variety of holiday gifts, Nutcrackers, and treats.
6. Snow’s Christmas Party
Come and celebrate the magic of Christmas with Snow and some of her wonderful friends! Guests are encouraged to dress as they wish, whether Royal, Super, Pirate, Christmassy or other! There will be fun activities including games, crafts for the kids to make, take home and cherish, Christmas stories told by some of our beloved characters, and giveaways! Cost of tickets is $15.
7. New Year’s Eve Ultimate Dance Party
TWO ROOMS OF DANCING FUN! One room will Have Today’s Hits with DJ Bill Lyons. Second room will have Country with DJ Terran Stone. $20 Per Person + ticket processing. Doors open at 7:00pm – Dancing starts at 8:00pm and goes until 1:00am. The awesome Photobooth will be open for some extra fun too! Grab a table in one room but feel free to hop throughout both rooms at your leisure!
